Vice President maintains control from CONRED
 
The Vice President of the Republic of Guatemala, maintains control from the Emergency Operations Center Conred, due to the activity by the volcano, it presented ash fall again in the towns of Villa Canales, San Miguel Petapa, Amatitlan Fraijanes, Santa Catarina Pinula Mixco and Guatemala City. At the moment the average height of sand layer (ashes) fallen on the International La Aurora Airport is 2.5 inches.
 
The Pacaya volcano has entered a new eruptive phase similar to the one on Thursday May 27, with explosions and ash columns reaching heights up to the one thousand five hundred meters high, moving from south to north at 18 kilometers per hour, as reported by the Unit for Research and Geophysical Services, National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology-INSIVUMEH.

Dr. Rafael Espada with the Civil Aviation Authorities expect the cleaning of the track La Aurora International Airport will take two days. In the assessment made today, there only have cleared 300 of total 3000 meters is the area.
 
The Executive Secretariat of the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction-SE-CONRED, together with the INSIVUMEH, keep monitoring the evolution of Pacaya volcano activity and recommend that people periodically clean the roofs of their homes, especially those which are fragile, to avoid collapse. Just as well, people are encouraged to place the sand in bags for proper handling.
