Guatemala SANA provides better quality Education

In a moving ceremony, Vice President Rafael Espada inaugurated the School of Santa Maria de Jesus, thanks to the work of the Guatemala Sana Foundation and the technical cooperation of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Participants included Dr. Rafael Espada, founder of Guatemala SANA, the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mr. Adolfo Ta-Chen Sun and Mayor of Santa María de Jesus, Chunuj Sotero Reyes.

During his speech, Dr. Rafael Espada thanked Ambassador Sun for his country´s continuous support for the people of Guatemala. He also acknowledged Mayor Sotero´s deep passion to work for the community of Santa Maria de Jesus. Finally, he affirmed none of this work would be possible without the diligence of the president of Guatemala Sana, Ms. Rose Baglia, and her commitment to improve the living conditions of rural children through health, education, nutrition and environmental programs.
The new school houses 500 students at primary, secondary and high school levels. It is located 55 kilometers from the capital city, just 10 kilometers from Antigua Guatemala.
Guatemala Sana works in the Department of Sacatepéquez, performing basic school repairs and providing health services. The program integrates healthcare, nutrition and primary school education in a centralized location within the town; and provides clean water and sanitation.
